What is New State’s approach to ESG?

We believe that companies with strong ESG standards are often better managed, have fewer business risks, and ultimately deliver better value for their stakeholders.  We also seek to leave the world better than we found it.

With that in mind, New State has formalized our commitment to responsible investing and has incorporated ESG as a part of due diligence, portfolio management, and value creation planning.  

We work to address and improve the ESG profile of a company through the states of our involvement.

1. Pre-investment, assess the ESG profile of a company in which we seek to invest.
2. Work with management and partners to identify certain potential areas for improvement.
3. Post-investment, work with management and partners to operationalize priority improvements
4. Throughout, provide transparency to investors and other constituents.

We believe in broad-based employee ownership

1. We believe granting equity to all employees results in enhanced engagement, increased talent retention, more impactful feedback from frontline employees, and improved operations.
2. Since our inception, we have converted two businesses into Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), each of these businesses became 100% employee-owned, generating meaningful wealth creation for the participants.
3. In addition we are implementing “equity for all” programs across our portfolio. Today, six New State companies have granted equity broadly across the employee base with more to come.
